The Region: Huila is a province in southwestern Colombia that lies between the Eastern and Central mountain ranges. With an average temperature of 18°C year-round and fertile soil that also contains a variety of rich mineral resources, Huila boasts a vibrant agricultural industry.
The Magdalena river winds its way through the entire region, which is also home to Colombia’s second highest peak: the Nevado del Huila volcano. Descendants of indigenous groups (Paeces, Yalcones and Pijaos) continue to inhabit their original homes in this region, living in specific protected zones and other small communities
